Is there a charge for parking?

No there is not. Parking is free for all guests.

Does the hotel have high-speed internet access?

Sheraton will be proving all rooms with four free internet connections!

What is CaliFur’s policy on parties?

CaliFur takes the view that what happens in private hotel rooms is not our business; however, if we receive reports that illegal activity is taking place therein (example being but not limited to: the serving of alcohol to persons under 21 years of age) we have both moral and legal responsibility to take action.

Having a party in your room is allowed, provided that they do not cause sufficient noise as to warrant complaints and are completely contained within the appropriate room.

Why is the convention named CaliFur?

CaliFur was the only name suggested that everyone could agree on.

Secondly, we wanted to tie in to the momentum of ConFurence and carry its history forward using the same CF initials.

Is there a “snail mail” address for Califur?

Registration:

Can I register at CaliFur?

Of course! Registration at the door will be $60 for full membership. One day memberships will be also be available at the door. But to save money, register early! Not only do early birds save money, but they can get into the con quicker!

Just be sure to bring a printed receipt with you. This will allow you to stand in the faster ‘Pre-Reg’ line.

Can I upgrade my membership to a Sponsorship or Patronage? How do I arrange for one?

You can upgrade your membership at any time! It’s as easy as logging back in to the registration via the web and checking which membership you would like to upgrade to, or you may mail it to us. If you are mailing it in, please make sure you give us a legal name and what membership you are upgrading to. Please send in check, money order, or via Paypal. Please be advised that upgrading on site will have an onsite upgrade fee.

When upgrading to a Sponsorship or a Patronage, make sure to check what your T-shirt size is via the web or let us know what size when mailing!

What do I get as a Sponsor?

As a Sponsor, you will get a Free T-shirt and a ticket to the Ice Cream Social or the Cabaret, with a special mention in the Pocket Guide for helping keep CaliFur alive!

What do I get as a Patron?

Patrons get a Free T-shirt and tickets to the Ice Cream Social, Cabaret Fur Le Dance, special gift and the Dinner. You also get a special mention in the Pocket Guide for enabling CaliFur to thrive!

I registered three weeks ago and have heard nothing. What’s going on?

CaliFur does not send a standard mail registration confirmation. It keeps our costs lower, and saves you money! We send an confirmation email when your payment is processed in our system. If you do not get one in your inbox please check your spam box for it as well. If you do not receive one in either box and would like to know that your registration went through please email us through the registration link and we will get back to you.


Payments:

What forms of payment are accepted at CaliFur?

When Registering ahead of time: We accept PayPal, credit cards via PayPal, Cash (U.S. currency only), personal checks with appropriate I.D., money orders and travelers’ checks.

At the door: Only cash, checks and travelers’ checks are accepted. If you are on site and find that you are low on cash, there is an ATM in the lobby.

How does CaliFur handle bounced checks?

We must charge a $55 fee for each returned check (reflecting in part what our bank charges us). Every person who bounces a check will be given ample opportunity to settle the debt, along with the bounced-check fee.

Membership to CaliFur will be suspended until such time that all monetary debts are settled.

Photography/Media:

I heard that I’m not allowed to film at the convention. Is that true?

Of course not! You are welcome to take photographs and video for personal use. Just remember that video or audio footage from CaliFur cannot be used in any format outside of personal use. Please be mindful of areas deemed “No recording zones” Please see our Code of Conduct for more information.

If someone asks you to please not film them, please be respectful of their request.

I don’t want my picture taken at all. How can I avoid it?

If you explicitly ask someone not to take your picture, the photographer should refrain from doing so; however, please be aware that many photographs and videos are taken in the common areas of the convention, and footage will be taken by attendees and staff at random points in the convention.


Events:

How do I contact someone about my panel/art piece/etc…?

Please view our contact page, which is our directory of the most important departments and just click on the person you need and you can send them an email.

Can I DJ for one of CaliFurs many dances?

We are looking for all types of music DJ’s for Califur’s dances (all 3 nights of the convention). If you would like to submit a demo to be considered for CaliFur, please make sure that it is one hour in length and is in a multi-genre format. What you demo WILL BE what you play at con, so please make sure that the content is something you are okay with playing.

Can I buy tickets to these events separately?

Of course! Dinner tickets, Ice Cream Social tickets and tickets to the Cabaret all sold to anyone who wishes to attend the events! Supplies are limited however and most of the ticketed items are only on sale online. Please make sure you get them in advance.

(Cabaret is 18+  and sells out quick!)

When buying multiple tickets or registrations, be sure to keep track of how many of each you have, and for whom. You are limited to two tickets each for the Ice Cream Social, Cabaret and Dinner tickets respectively.


Volunteering:

How Can I Help?

It’s simple. Just sign up at the Volunteers staffing table during the convention in Con Ops, or contact Red Collie ahead of time via our contact form. We’ll find something for you to do — trust us!

What do I get for volunteering?

Not only do you get the satisfaction of contributing to this amazing community by helping us host SoCal’s finest furry convention, but there are ninja level secret incentives as well! Contact us for more info.
